Instrument Lessons Offered at SJG Music School located at the Campbell Community Center
SJG Music School has instrument lessons in many popular disciplines (see instruments offered below). Private music lessons provide one-on-one attention, so instructors can focus on an individual student’s needs and interests. All of our highly experienced instructors are trained to work a range of students, whether you are a beginner or an advanced musician looking to refine your skills. |Instruments Offered||Lesson Description|
|Bass Guitar||SJG offers Bass Guitar lessons for all styles and levels. With a focus on sight reading, music theory, strong fundamentals, proper technique, rhythm training, improvisation, ear training, groove and feel, ensemble playing, learning songs, playing popular bass lines and analyzing the theory behind them. Wednesday 1/2 hour classes are divided equally between technique / theory and learning songs, from Jazz to rock and everything in between. Meet SJG’s bass teacher.|
|Cello||SJG Cello students will begin with foundational studies: proper sitting posture, hand and arm positioning, and bowing. Music reading will emphasize the importance of the bouncing bow and fore-arm quick movement. The repertoire focuses on the music of the Classical and Romantic periods, along with other styles. |Drums & Percussion||SJG offers drum lessons for all ages and levels. Learn the basics of music reading and technique, all while playing a variety of musical styles ranging from Rock to Jazz to Country. Drum students will also have the opportunity to play in with other musicians in band workshops and recitals. Meet SJG’s drum teacher.|
|Guitar||SJG offers guitar lessons for all styles and levels. Our talented and experienced teachers can help you, whether your interest is in Rock, Blues, Jazz, Classical, Metal, Country, Folk or most any other style. Even if you have been playing for years and wish to improve in certain area, our instructors can help fine-tune your skills. We offer guitar lessons 6 days per week. |Piano||Piano students of all ages and levels can advance their skills at SJG. Our instruction covers the basics of music reading, theory and technique, with a repertoire ranging from Classical to Jazz to Pop. Learn solo piano, accompaniment, and ensemble keyboard playing. Students will have the opportunity to play in band workshops and recitals. Meet SJG’s piano teacher.|
|Voice||If you have always wanted to sing, SJG can teach you healthy vocal techniques for developing your voice to its fullest potential. Learn breath control and voice placement, tone, phrasing and pitch, in addition to basic music theory. Group and individual work will teach students to exercise their vocal muscles for personal enjoyment, as well as auditioning and performing. Our lessons will also help students build confidence and pick audition material, all while having fun! Meet SJG’s voice teacher.|
|Violin & Viola||Violin and viola lessons are tailored to meet the needs of the individual student. All ages and experience levels are welcome. Our instructor specializes in adult beginners. (It is never too late to begin a new instrument!) Every student will learn the basics of note reading and rhythm along with learning proper playing technique. This is achieved through playing pieces and exercises in the style of your choice: classical, bluegrass, jazz or Celtic/Scottish fiddle styles. Performance opportunities are available for solo or ensemble. Your first lesson is complementary with no obligation. Meet SJG’s violin and viola teacher.|
|Woodwinds (Saxophone, Clarinet, Flute and Recorder)||SJG offers instruction on woodwind instruments for all ages and levels. Our teachers work with students on basic musicianship skills including: music reading, technique and theory. Lesson material can include Classical, Pop and Jazz.
